The Hideaway - Also Weird shit at Scum's house
So I'm gonna use this Blog as a place to write about The DIRTY WORKS shows. Not review them, persay but just tell the stories from my viewpoint, the singer/Front man or whatever I am. I'm gonna start with the latest show, but by no means are these in order. I'm just starting with the most recent show because of the strange events surrounding it. Nothing really ghostly, or huanting so if you're by chance reading this, There is no Goblin' at the end of This tale. Yet!
The night of the show Bernard (drummer) was over listening to the final mix of our first CD. Which we are all pleased and excited about. Later steven Crime, (guitarist) Showed up and they watched a film from our last Nashville show while I stayed in here on the computer returning some important E-mails.
Shortly Thereafter steven and B. left to go pick up a friend who was riding with us to see the show. Shaggy The bassist showed and I gave him a map and he went on towards Johnson City.
Rene' and I were here alone, she getting ready in the bathroom myself still on the computer.
I was on Myspace.com doing nothing in particular when the stange happened. I heard a voice that was so earily familiar that it didn't even surprise me. I thought, Oh yea there's Angie, she probally wants to go to the show. Angie's been dead for five years. So I came to my senses on the second time the voice spoke, coming from my speakers maybe, or perhaps coming from all around me. It was unmistakabley her voice, HELL-OOOO, I noticed even the hint of playfullness Angie had when in a good mood. It, to me was her. I yelled for Rene' to come in here, please just as she walked through the door the voice said hello a third time, Rene's eyes got real big but she didn't look scared. I said, Damn, doesn't that sound like Angie? She said it is Angie, her eyes even wider. The voice came again, this time I detected a note of impatience, as Angie would get when leaving a message on our answering machine after not being able to contact us for some time.
"Hellooo" Rene said back, I looked up at her and said She can't here you. The look on her face was of utter excitement. She was doing nothing more than contacting an old friend. I don't think the impossibilities of the situation had really hit her yet. She was just excited to hear from her friend.
The voice never came again. We discussed it. Basically coming up with nothing so we wrote it off as probably a computer pop up advertisement. Sometimes pop ups come up behind the screen I'm working on there for I couldn't see it but hear it completely. That doen't explain why it said only "Hello", seems an prerecorded advertisement would have went on to tell about whatever shim sham of product they're shoving in people's faces. Instead it said hello, and each time it was the same voice but sounded more excited and then even a bit impatient. It also doesn't explain how it was Angies voice. Angie was one of my very best friends for the better part of 15 years. Hardly a day went by when we didn't see eachother. At first, I don't think I was hit by the full impact of her deat. The actual finality of it. I was taking care of Rene' and our good friend Steve. It took a year or more for me to grieve and at times I feel I'm still grieving. I didn't realize how much I actually relied on our friend ship. She was my sister.
Moving on with the nights story, a phone call came taking our concious mind from the wierd incident at the computer. Let, me say now before I forget to, I was never afraid nor did I feel any presense of Evil during or after this. I don't know much about blogging, I probably just broke a blogging rule or something. I think that's important though. I have been touched by evil and it left me as cold as the grave and terrified for months. There was none of this.
Anyway the phone rings Bernard and Steven are stuck at Adams (the Friend that was going to ride along with us) The transmition is gone from Bernards car. Shaggy the Bassist is speeding on his way to J.C. without his cell phone. We had to go. We couldn't bail on the gig and our bassist.
So we set out, leaving Bernards Drums because of room. We just went and took the chance someone would let him use their kit.
We get their fine, our bassist is bellied to bar but not close to drunk. I guess I should have mentioned that this night had one of the biggest, brightest full moons I've seen in awhile. I believe in the power of the moon, you're a fool not to. The moon controls something as huge as the oceans tides, are we to believe it doesn't have some affect on us. Our moods, our thoughts, even how we feel physically. It always has me running on high, extra alert and sensitive to everything around me. I don't know if it affects all mortals the same way, probably has a different effect on everyone, thing, even the night it'self.
Really the mystery and excitement has happened already in this story. We hit stage the second band of the Evening and played a tight high energy set. There were a couple obvious mistakes because A) We weren't used to Bernard on this Drum Kit (But a Giant Thanks Go out to The Bussiness Machines for the use of it) B) We couldn't here the vocals, We told John a couple times and it's like he'd turn them up in the monitors but then we'd lose them again a few songs later. Two main things we really rely on for signals is the drums and vox. So it was like trying to find a black cat in a pitch dark room. I never, ever sleep without a small light on. Never have, never will. I'll go into some of the experiences I had as a child and an adult that I consider supernatural in other post. Supernatural means not natural. Not of the normal flow of things in this world. I have been touched by energies from another realm, hell I been smacked in the ass by it and it's nothing I care to be fucking with. I think people who play with ouju boards tarrott cards, black magic in any way are inviting something in their lives they really don't want and DEFINITELY can't control.
We finished our set with the song HIGH. We went over great. That's that as far as music went. There were some Damn good bands there that night The GOONS, The Wayward-Both from Washington DC, then the Bussiness Machines definitly closed the night out with a bang.
Rap is not really my thing.... But Eibol and his accomplices did take the place over for awhile and did it well. I was impressed with their energy and the DJs creativeness. I would see that again.
The Hideaway is never a let down. I'm sure we'll be right back down there as soon as our small hiatus (partial hiatus) is over.
This show was on NOV. 17th. I will be posting about other shows both before and after this one. We've had much more chaotic and explosive shows but we played with some great bands that night and held our own. That's good in my book.
